AURUS
Aurora is the “morning dawn,” sun rays rising over the horizon. Thoughts full of bright hope; a gaze turned to the future. That is how we saw the flagship AURUS Senat Aurora.
Sputniki presented it to the public while preserving the brand’s strong character. Though that was not easy.
We looked for a visual solution that would not only showcase the car’s exclusive elements but also reveal the concept of the morning dawn. Production constraints made the search harder. A car that has left the assembly line cannot be moved around the plant.
That led us to the only possible solution. We conceived a virtual space to emphasize Aurora’s design and concept. After photographing the car, we only had to transfer the frames into 3D space to create highlights and shadows.
Usually car shoots take place in special studios with all the tools needed for perfect lighting. That option was not available to us.
To get close to studio conditions, we built our own set at the plant next to the assembly line.
The plant is in the Alabuga special economic zone, 200 km from Kazan and 1,000 km from Moscow. Some equipment and crew came from the capital, some from Tatarstan. Need we say what logistical and administrative challenges we faced?
For each angle we took several shots under different lighting: set the camera, adjust the light, shoot, move the light and repeat again and again. Then the final touches—retouching and compositing the frames into 3D.
